Foods With A Negative Impact On Mood

Dieticians and psychologists from around the world have long said-"if you want to relax after an angry outburst and banish sadness, eat! "The food and the process of eating stimulate the production of endorphins-the hormone of happiness.

But not all products enhance mood. Some are with completely neutral effect, while others are subtle-loaded us with a brief burst of enthusiasm, after which we risk falling in even worse mood. American scientists decided to compile a list of some of the most frequently used in everyday foods able to spoil our mood.

Potato chips

Contains a number of harmful acids and the carcinogenic substance acrylamide. The combination of them is blocking the natural flow of endorphins, which immediately leads to a decline in mood.

Smoked meats

Industrial smoked meats and sausages contain large amounts of sugar, salt, preservatives and nitrates, which overwhelm metabolism and consequently can cause a bad mood.

Sweet soft drinks

Their use leads to a sharp rise in blood sugar followed by a sharp decline, resulting in a reduction of the mood. As strange as it sounds, the regular excess of sugary soft drinks is considered medically to be one of the potential factors to unlock the depression.

Margarine

Contains artificially synthesized fatty acids and a number of studies have confirmed that therefore can negatively affect mood.

Processed pumpkin seeds

They contain potassium bromate which block the uptake of iodine by the thyroid gland. Roasted and salted seeds are also evaluated by medicine as one of the products potentially able to spoil the mood. But well, the effect is short.

Sweet pastries

In general - lion dose carbohydrates for breakfast is not recommended because the body wakes up a little later from the brain and the digestive system needs more time to process the full abundance of carbohydrates. The delay in its normal rhythm violates the production of hormones, including those who care for the good mood.

Peanuts

Salty nuts on the store shelves contain sodium glutamate and a huge amount of additives and enhancers of unknown origin. To most everyone's surprise this product  is also likely to cause bad influence on the mood.

Food Can Affect Our Mood

The majority of us, when in a bad mood or under stress, calm down, by eating the "comfort foods" like potato chips, pastries and sweets. For some people, these foods are far from reassuring. Rather they can make you feel lifeless, tired and irritable. Studies showed that for some people certain diets lead to depression, some foods raise mood and other spoil it. The human body is armed with over 100 billion neurons. To communicate successfully neurons rely on neurotransmitters - chemicals in the brain.

Some of the most popular are the neurotransmitters: dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin. They not only contribute to communication between neurons in the brain, but also have a huge impact on your mood.

Eating fish raises mood.

The reason is that fish contain omega -3 fatty acid. Numerous clinical studies have demonstrated the antidepressant effect of these fatty acids. They maintain healthy levels of neurotransmitters in the brain. They help to improve the mood not only to the depressed, but also to not depressed people.

For many of us bread products, pasta and others have a calming effect. Dietary several studies have shown that these foods contribute to increasing the concentration of the amino acid tryptophan in the brain. Human body converts tryptophan into serotonin, which is a proven mood-elevating agent.

Of course this is not true for all. For some people, eating large amounts of carbohydrates such as bread, potatoes, pasta does not lead to significant changes in serotonin levels and consequently to their mood.

Also study of Czech scientists showed that eating a combination of yogurt and nuts leads to nervous stability and improves our mental and physical health.
